Party The Old Way
Matt just got off his 9-hour work shift, waiting to celebrate his birthday like he did as a kid, inviting all of his friends over. The group of buddies have arrived at the house setting up the barbeque out in the backyard. The grass swayed from the gentle breeze, and the sun was beaming down. Everyone was there besides the one friend, Darryl, he was the cake guy. Every birthday they celebrated Darryl always brought the cake, it was always a Costco cake he picked up because if Darryl could bake without it being a black mess it would be like winning the lottery. Matt left the plant waiting for the click of the printer to register his punch-out time. The plant was only 15 minutes from Matt’s house and all of his buddies were now at his house setting up. The key was inserted into the ignition with the engine slowly turning over. Matt was on the way to his house. Darryl impatiently waits for Matt to arrive. “ When is this guy going to get here?” Chuck, another one of Matt’s friends, shook his head violently, “C'mon man, give the guy a break Darryl, it’s his birthday for goodness sake”. Darryl almost lost it, he hates being told what not to do coming from a rich family. Everyone helped to calm down Darryl, Matt just pulling into the driveway, all of the buddies including Chuck and Darrly had set up in the garage with confetti cannons, Matt walked in… BANG. The confetti launched all over the garage floor, Matt was covered in confetti, the surprise was a success. Matt’s birthday was a success. It was just like the old days when you get goodie bags and cake as a 10 year old kid. The birthday party was a success and Matt was happy another one was in the books.
