Last race
As a boy, Brian had an easy childhood. He went from playing in the playgrounds to finding interest in cars. The way he did things was as if he was racing someone or something. His father, John, saw his capricious mindset and invited Brian to a formula 1 racing event. Brian was astonished at this event and would not forget that night. But 5 years later, wishing the best for Brian for the new school year through a phone call, John gets cut off in an instant. Brian thought the worst as if the static was how smoke sounded, how metal screeched. 5 minutes later, he accepts what has happened, but if he does not go to check up on his father, he will be last in knowing what happened.
15 years later, Brian is in the Mclaren F1 racing team as lead racer. Brian waved towards the crowd as Brian “Greenlight” Parks. Brian stands in a pose, stuck as if time is racing and passing him. He is proud of himself for staying strong and reaching his checkered goal. The sound of cars going by got closer to being understood. His mother, Amy, calls to him for a hug. She asks how he is doing, but Brian had his heart revving and his head spinning. Brian was contemplating on his father, Amy did the same, but shook it off saying: ”The importance of family is to always go on, if not, he will be last to be hurting.
Brian goes on to prepare for the 2023 Miami F1 International race for the Grand Prix in the Miami Auto-drome. Brian remembers some of his teachings while watching old races as a kid. He waves goodbye, prays, and as he settles, the race begins. Brian passes the line once and that is lap two, passing it forty-eight times and that is lap forty-nine. As lap fifty-six ends, Brian pits to refuel and to change his tires. As he is in a pitstop, the Ferrari team racer lands in first and Brian goes down the leaderboard. If he does not go now, he will be last in the race. Brian steps has to put the pedal to the metal. Brian reaches the Ferrari racer in lap one-hundred-and-forty-six, the Ferrari racer takes a long look at Brian, then he ascends up further and away from Brian.
This stays in Brian’s head as a sign of aggression from the Ferrari racer, but he proceeds to think about what his father would do. After nothing goes to his head, he gets an idea that will win him the race. He sees his family cheering and that makes him feel sick for the move he is about to do. In order to win, he must lose his comfort in believing he is good at racing. He felt as if he needed to prove the racer that he is a better, much faster racer on the track. Brian thinks he would win if he was to commit a foul move. So he does, at least in his head, Brian already won. Brian reaches the but does not touch him. He hears an engine sputter and make noise, but he does not know if the noises come from his car or someone else’s car. Then, he sees the racer go from side to side on the railings until he hits the wall. Ferrari’s racer has crashed. The racer suffered and engine failure, but as he flies, Brian sees it and feels it happen in slow motion. No noise, flashing lights, so slow, and as it is ending, he hears a sound that sounded as if the metal was screeching. All the racer’s needed forty-four more laps to complete the race, but they all respected the time for Ferrari to end the crash.
With no choice, Brian turns around to go help the racer. He knew that this would haunt him forever, and if he kept going, that would have long lasting effects. As he pulls out the racer from the wreckage, he calls out to Brian. Brian had never talked to anybody from this race. They both take off their helmets, and the thoughts of doing things wrong evaporated from his mind because he knew this person. It was John. He raced his own son to reveal himself, but who knew that John's engine would fail. After leaving the track, in the backrooms, John was telling Brian how sorry he was and how he would explain everything later. 5 hours later, it is now 4:00pm. They are now in the hospital, only to find out that John has been paralyzed from the waist down.
An hour later, they get news from the Mclaren team. John will be promoted to team leader, with Brian as lead racer for Lamborghini. He was autonomous for 2 years before that day. After visiting his dad, Brian goes to Amy’s arms for a hug. He tells her what he thought of doing. She was surprised, she said that his whole life, he was benign, but she forgave him, just like John did earlier. Brian almost let the dark thoughts win, though something else evil happened, the evil and dark thought did not consume Brian.
