Michael was sent to a foster home at the age of 7 when his mom passed away due to a heart attack, and his dad died a couple years before at war. Michael was very energetic but was also very antisocial and always felt out of place when he was out in public. Since Michael was very different from most kids it was very difficult for him to get adopted. Luckily one day a woman and her husband adopted him there names were Nicole and Mark. Mark and Nicole were very positive and well respected because of how inspiring and well rounded people they were. Michael loved them and Mark and Nicole treated him as if they were his own son.

There was one problem though Michaels dream was to join the army in the belief that his father would be proud of him. Mark and Nicole were very distraught about his decision, however Mark and Nicole wanted what made Michael the happiest so they supported his decision. By the time Mark entered high school he joined his school's JROTC program. He was very talented and his teacher recognized it quickly, therefore he  helped Michael get into the army. MIchael later on that week got a letter in the mail and then when he read it he realized it was a letter from the army so he quickly rushed inside with his parents and they all opened it together and all started celebrating when they realized he got accepted. A month passed and Michael had to say his goodbyes to Nicole and Mark in which they were very sad but could only wish the best for him. Michael then went on a bus over to a training camp while he was on the bus he met a guy named Trey. Trey and Michael got along very well and became good friends. When they arrived to camp it was very diligent but Michael knew it wasn't going to be easy. A couple months passed by and Michael and Trey's friendship grew stronger but they got some very agonizing news from their head sergeant that they will have to go to Vietnam soon to fight a war. The day came where they had to get transported to Vietnam When they arrived it started off calm and they didn't think much of it. Most of the first days they just spent time establishing the base and making sure everything was organized. Everyone at the base was going to sleep when they went to sleep the Vietnamese soldiers planned a sneak attack on them like a thief in the night. When the first shot was fired everyone woke up startled and Michael quickly got up and grabbed his rifle and went to Trey. Trey was already up and ready until they realized they were outnumbered and quickly called for backup but they had to defend as much as they could in the meantime. Michael knew that in order to help as many people he could he had to take big risks so Michael  and Trey went out and tried to rescue as many people as they could. Sadly while they were trying to rescue people Trey had gotten shot Michael quickly grabbed him and took shelter behind a log and tried to save Trey. But it was too late Michael still had to help defend the base as long as he could until backup arrived. Michael felt so overwhelmed because it felt like this chaos was going on forever. Finally backup arrived and helped them push back the Vietnamese army and when they returned back to the United States Michael had to tell the news to Trey's family they were all broken-hearted . However Trey and Michael got the military's highest award, the medal of honor for their bravery and kind heart. Also Michael was very proud for himself and knew that his father would also be very proud of him.
