In English my name means Dark. Born of Celtic origin. A rocky name without much personality, pushing away the light. A very bland name. When said it has no affect, no wonder. When heard it does not create emotion or temptation. It's a single star in a universe of illuminated spheres. Not even the largest star nor the smallest, not the brightest nor the dimmest, just a normal star creating no constellations or scientific discoveries.

I have no great great grandfather named Cole. No family member that died before I was born. My parents had no intent of giving me this name. An instinctive decision was made to change my life forever.

I originally was a unique Cruise. How I would love to be a Cruise, so inviting and unique. Instead of common Cole I could be cool Cruise. When other people say my name it just doesn't sound right, its as if I wasn't cole or didn't want to be. When you hear cruise it makes your ears perk, eyes wander in search of the mysterious name, and thoughts racing of who can pull off the name cruise. But that is a fairy tale, a story for another person, a luxury I do not have.

My name, sparks no interest, no strange faces or raised eyebrows. No questions, like “how’d u get ur name?” or “that's unique!”. Just blank faces and unaffected emotions. But it's also not a name that brings awkwardness or pity. A name with no risk, no reward. In the end there is no story, no tale, just a name. A name that is mine and I am fit for, so for now my name is Cole.
