The makeup on her face, the expensive bags she carries, and the brand new shoes on her feet—that is what people see when they look at her.
They don’t see what is underneath...maybe because she is too busy hiding it, or maybe because no one bothers to look.
Maybe what they would see could surprise them.
They could see makeup streaming down her face from the tears that she cries.
Maybe that would show them the pain she carries with her everyday of her life.
And those shoes...maybe people ought to walk in them for a while—and see how much they hurt; not because they are brand new and have never been worn—but maybe because no one could deal with the things in her life until they truthfully put themselves in her place and “walk in her shoes”.
