Twisted Cinderella Story
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Cinderella. Cinderella lived with her mean grandmother and her triplet sisters Alice & Amelia. Cinderella was always sought as the outcast of the family. As they all had blonde, paper straight hair Cinderella had short brown curly hair. She was not as tall as the rest of her family, but certainly had them all beat in beauty. Cinderella grew up being despised by her own father, and when her mother died it got much worse than imaginable.
“Cinderella, why aren’t my reusable toilet paper towels washed yet?” her father scolded as he threw the feces covered rags at his daughter. Her eyes swelled up with water and her cheeks turned bright red.
“I’m sorry sir” she mumbled, trying not to let her father hear the cracks in her voice. He stood there eyeing her down with a look so intense it could scare a navy seal.
“I DIDN'T ASK FOR AN APOLOGY I WANT IT DONE!” As he yelled Cinderella could see the veins popping out of his forehead and spit fly through his clenched teeth right into her face. Cinderella quickly gathered all the rags and sped walked to the laundry room to start the load before she got punished even worse.
“Cinderella?” Cinderella’s grandmother yelled down the dry-walled staircase.
“Cinderella are you down here?” she yelled again. Cinderella had been staring off into space daydreaming about the wedding videos she had secretly been watching, imagining herself in the bride's place. She heard a slight stomp onto the first stair and quickly snapped out of it.
“Yes Ma’am.” She replied hesitantly. She swallowed a lump in the back of her throat, dreading what was about to happen. She knew she waited too long to reply and she was going to have to pay. She balled up her fists into her worn out Walmart sweats and prayed to god. With each “THUD” she knew she was closer and closer to being yelled at yet again.
“You need to finish this up and start cleaning the entertaining hall, your sister’s wedding party does not want to dance on crumbs” She said strictly. Cinderella looked up and nodded.
“Yes Ma’am.” Cinderella said to her grandmother following the nod. Cinderella's mind slowly wondered back to if she were to fall in love. Soon enough she was stuck staring at the wall; this time infront of her grandmother.
“What is going on in the dumb little head of yours?” Her grandmother cackled. Cinderella’s face turned bright red for she was used to the names but had never been asked that question before.
“Ummmm-” she mumbled.
“Geez are you really that stupid? Spit it out already!” Her grandmother said easing the cackling.
“I was just daydreaming about the day I wed.” Cinderella said at a low voice level. Her grandmother looked her up and down.
“Don’t be silly, you belong here with me and your father.” She said with an evil looking smile.
“I’m not, I want to be a bride like Ameila.” She said slowly, bringing her voice level up. Her grandmother narrowed her eyes, and raised one singular eyebrow at Cinderella.
“I don’t know who you think you are but you don’t talk to me like that, get to your room before I slap you.” Her grandmother said in a tone as stern as a brick wall. Cinderella lowered her head and began up the stairs for her bedroom.
Cinderella sat on her bed and began to cry. She felt as if she would be stuck as a maid for the rest of her life. She laid down and pulled out the secret iphone she had been using to watch videos. She went onto youtube and searched “How to fall in love”. A list of videos with numerous titles instantly came up but only one stuck out. It was an Ad for a dating app. Cinderella clicked on the video ad instantly.
“Are you lonely? Wanting someone to love you? Download Cinder now” She thought to herself that it must have been a sign for her. The name was so close to hers and it was pulled up right in front of her face. She downloaded the app and immediately started making friends. Because of Cinderella’s beauty she had no problem getting guys to notice her on the app. After a couple hours of swiping Cinderella found a man she thought could be the one. Of course he was just a stranger on the internet, but that didn’t stop Cinderella from believing.
“Hey” Cinderella typed before hitting send. Within a couple seconds she felt the vibrations from her iphone in her hand.
“Hey Nice to meet you.” He had replied back to her. She felt butterflies in her stomach and didn’t know what to say.
“I like you” she said out of spite before powering her phone off. He replied within thirty seconds.
“Call me, I’d like to get to know you better.” his reply read. Cinderella hit the video chat icon and got on the phone with the man she had just met.
They talked for hours, asking questions, telling stories, and just taking the time to really know one another. She Told him about the conversation with his grandmother, to which he said her grandmother was crazy.
“I’d marry you in a heartbeat.” He said with the most confidence and courage Cinderella had ever seen in her life. She was instantly drawn to him. As she was talking to him her sister Amy, could hear her giggles through the connecting walls of her bedroom. She went over to the vent and put her ear over top to eavesdrop on Cinderella's conversation.
“We can have two children, a boy and a girl” Amy overheard Cinderella say. She knew she was talking to a guy and was more invested than before. Amy knew that even if she did fall in love the relationship would never work with Cinderella being stuck at home. She knew she didn’t need to do much to sabotage the relationship, but she knew one thing; Cinderella was happy and she didn’t like that. Amy went downstairs to ask her grandmother if Cinderella could clean her room for her.
“Grandmother, my room is a mess and needs to be cleaned immediately.” She said while fluttering her eyes and holding out a pouting lip.
“Of course darling, I will send Cinderella on it.” Grandmother said to Amy. The grandmother went up to tell Cinderella of her newfound chore while Amy went down to the wine cellar. She squatted down to the bottom rack and pulled out a bottle of red wine from 1986.
“This should work” She said laughing to herself as she closed the door and headed back up the stairs. Amy headed through the massive kitchen, and up the grand staircase to the hall where the bedrooms were. She peeked into Cinderella’s room to make sure she wasn’t in there before she quickly headed in. Amy headed straight for the closet and pulled out the beige colored bridesmaid gown that her father had bought her for the wedding. Amy shook the bottle up before popping the cap in the direction of the dress. She finished the bottle off by pouring it from the neck line and letting it drip, leaving a red stain all the way down. She dropped the bottle on the wood floor before leaving the room alone with the now-ruined dress.
After Cinderella got done cleaning her sister's room she went into her room excited to talk to her secret lover again. She walked into a surprise that made her knees hit the floor. She stumbled over to the dress examining the mess that had been made over it. She went downstairs to get her grandmother to ask for help. Her grandmother came into the room and instantly saw the dress.
“Oh my god what did you do?” She said with anger in her voice.
“I don’t know, I came in from cleaning and it was like that.” she said with hysteria in her voice.
“Oh that? Yeah that was me sorry.” A voice said from the door. Cinderella turned around and saw Amy standing there.
“Why would you do this?” Cinderella demanded.
“Because you were happy and I can’t stand seeing you happy.” Amy bragged proudly. Amy turned to her grandmother and smiled.
“Looks like Cinderella won’t be at the wedding.” Amy snarked.
“But why not? I can get another one can't I?” Cinderella said hopefully.
“No, the wedding is tomorrow, there is not enough time.” Her grandmother said as she took the dress and headed out of the room, Amy following shortly behind. Cinderella walked over and fell onto her bed crying. She called her lover and explained to him the events that had occurred.
“That is awful of them. Why do they treat you like that?” He questioned concerningly.
“I don’t know, but I know that I will never leave this place, they won’t let me be happy.” Cinderella muttered as the salty tears fell down her burning red cheeks.
“I will make you happy.” He said before abruptly hanging up the phone. Cinderella sat there in awe. She thought that he had, had enough of her and was moving on from her. After everything she had been through, Cinderella always expected the worst to come. She looked at the clock that now read “9:26 p.m” and decided she was going to get some rest.
Cinderella peaked her eyes open to find the sun shining right into them. She jumped up fast, scared she was going to be yelled at for sleeping in. She rushed down the stairs to find a note on the marble countertop.
“We are gone for the wedding. We will be back on Sunday night, clean the bathrooms, bedrooms, halls, garage, attic, and driveway. From Grands”
Cinderella felt relieved to know she was free from being yelled at over slight inconveniences, and sent to do everyone's chores every 10 minutes. She went to the living room, sat on the giant pillowy couch and turned on the TV. She wasn’t normally allowed on the couch or to watch TV so it felt like a vacation for Cinderella. She made herself a big breakfast and ate her feast in the living room. She cleaned her own messes and only her own. She laid out by the pool for a little bit before coming back in for some more television.
Cinderella only got about five minutes into her movie when she heard the doorbell sound echo through the house. She jumped in surprise, for it was rare they had visitors and unusual since nobody else was home. Cinderella crept over to the glass front door and peeked around the corner to see who it was. Her mouth dropped open as she saw Kaleb, her secret Cinder lover standing on the other slide of the glass and steel barrier. She ran over to the door and unlocked it before releasing the hinge and swinging it open. He picked her up and spun her in his arms like a prince. Next to him he had a suitcase and a bouquet of red roses. He handed her the flowers and pulled the suitcase in behind him.
“I have a surprise for you” He said while unzipping the suitcase that was now laying on the floor. He pulled out the most elegant bridal dress she had ever seen in her entire life. It reminded her of the ones she had seen in the videos, but with more bling and more poof.
“Oh my! I love it.” Cinderella said with cheer in her voice.
“Go change, we have a wedding to get to.” He said in a charming tone. Cinderella ran up the stairs with the gown and went straight to her room to change. She hurried and got the dress on before walking over to her mirror to pin her braid up into a bun, and throw on some makeup. She found a pair of cherry red pumps and put them on before walking towards the staircase. When Kaleb saw Cinderella he was in awe of her beauty. The couple left the house and headed to the destination of Ameila’s wedding.
After a couple hours of driving they made it to the small, old wedding chapel. They hurried out of the car and up the stairs into the center doors.
“Before we continue on with the ceremony is there anyone that would like to object?” The priest was saying right as they walked in.
“I OBJECT!” Kaleb yelled from the back half of the chapel. All the eyes turned on him and she could feel her father’s gaze pierce through her. The priest turned to Ameila and her Fiance,
“I’m sorry but I cannot continue with the ceremony.” He said before closing the7 bible on the podium. Amelia stormed out, blazing in anger in front of everyone. The grandmother rushed over to Cinderella to figure out what was going on.
“You said I would never be wed, but now I will be.” Cinderella said as she looped her arm through her grooms and walked carelessly down the aisle.
“May we?” Kaleb asked the priest. The priest nodded and opened his book back up. Cinderella’s father stormed out to find Amelia, while Amy and the grandmother watched as Cinderella exchanged vowels with each other.
“I do,” said Cinderella.
“I do.” said Kaleb. The couple kissed long before smiling and hugging. They thanked the priest before walking over to Cinderella’s family.
“I will not be returning, thank you for all you have done for me, I love you.” Cinderella said to her grandmother and sister before turning her back to them and walking away with her new husband.
