Name Essay
My name means in Hebrew, “The son to my right hand.” By doing more research of my name, I found the meaning of “The son to my right hand” meaning strength. I was confused by the original meaning because my family is not Jewish so a Hebrew son did not seem correct. So why would they name me this name? In asking my parents why they named me my name, they said they wanted to have strong formal names for their kids. The strength of my name fulfilled their wish for me.
My name is like a statue or a building. Strength is the color of the high buildings of a city - the gray of the buildings that never seem to move. I’m not super strong when it comes to lifting weights but I’m strong in other ways like never giving up and working hard. When it comes to school I’m not the strongest student but I put in the time at school and at home, ask some questions and do my own work I seem to do okay. When time gets hard at school or even in my personal life I to I just keep on chugging along.
My name also has some great nicknames to it that my parents and friends call me that I love - Benny, Benardo, Bennie Boy. They still call me them now but less so. The nicknames always remind me of my childhood, how funny and smiley I was and sometimes I still am. I have noticed when I’m getting older they hardly say “Benny.” I still sometimes hear my sister call me “Benny.” I love the nickname I am thinking about going to go by it in college.
I like my name, it is a classic boy’s name it’s very old, but there are important people in history that have my name. My real name is Benjamin, but people mainly just call me Ben. With a strong name Benjamin, my parents call me that when I need to pay attention to them. I know it is important when they call me that. Benjamin is the strength and pride that my family has in me.
