Bali Dancer
This is a Bali dancer of Indonesia. These young girls dance in remembrance of religious background and wear costumes that symbolize their gracefulness as they are approaching womanhood. The headdress they wear is for the adorning of what they consider the most sacred part of the body (the head). I mimicked the style of Michael Borbay for this piece. He has his own website where he shows you step by step his process in collage -making, but essentially what I used was newspaper collaged and painted over with acrylic paint while outlining some of the headlines that I glued on from the newspaper. The gold pieces were doilies that I cut up and the yellow petals are actually pieces of yellow-painted newspaper. This was a fun project and I would definitely recommend this style to anyone who is looking for something new to do!
